Individual Attributes. --Individual attributes include the psychological drivers of entrepreneurship, motivations for pursuing entrepreneurship for startups by gender and age, and the influence of sustainable development goals on new ventures. --Perceptions Towards Entrepreneurship. Albertans generally have a higher awareness than the national average of knowing an entrepreneur, which speaks to the prevalence of entrepreneurship in Alberta. The perception of the availability of new entrepreneurial opportunities in Alberta is on par with the national average and remains high. Albertans remain confident in their abilities to start and grow an entrepreneurial venture, although this is slightly below the national average, and a reduction since last year. Fear of failure is highest in Alberta for the comparators, although Fear of Failure has increased for all comparators since last year. --Sustainable Development Goals. On each of the social and environmental dimensions, Alberta based startup entrepreneurs score higher than the national average, which is a shift from last year. For owner-managers, there is increased concern for social concerns and a sharp decrease in environmental concerns compared to startups that are in the very early stages of their ventures. However, within these more established ventures, Alberta based entrepreneurs have relatively high social concerns that are higher than the national average. There are however interesting regional shifts occurring as ventures become more established and genuinely must make trade-off decisions between profits and growth above social or environmental considerations. Compared to last year business owners appear to be favouring social and environmental factors more strongly in their planning.
