The 2023/24 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Thailand Report presents a comprehensive analysis of the entrepreneurial landscape in Thailand, highlighting its current status, challenges, and opportunities for growth. Conducted in collaboration with the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) and Bangkok University, this report synthesizes data collected from a national sample of 2,200 adults aged 18-64, offering valuable insights into entrepreneurial activities, attitudes, and the ecosystem. Thailand has a vibrant entrepreneurial landscape, with 36.4% of the adult population engaged in entrepreneurial activities. Women entrepreneurs are on the rise with more women than men starting a business and/or running a young business at a female to male TEA ratio of 1.1. A clear trend is to co-start the business with one or two co-founders. A comparison between the pre-COVID (2018/19) and post-COVID (2023/24) periods shows a 23.6% increase in total early-stage entrepreneurial activity, marking the highest level recorded since Thailand's participation in GEM 20 years ago.
