You may believe that the worst impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are behind us. This is true in many developed economies. However, women entrepreneurs in emerging economies faced exceedingly difficult business impacts during the COVID-19 pandemic which could have been – and could still be – addressed through policy action.
A new Global Entrepreneurship Monitor policy brief, developed in partnership with Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi), highlights new and innovative approaches to supporting women entrepreneurs in emerging economies. During a webinar that took place on 19 September, we we highlighted key findings from this brief, entitled Women Entrepreneurs in Emerging Economies: Lessons on Segmentation and Care Needs from the 2019-2021 Pandemic.
Panellists:
- Amanda Elam, author of the policy brief Women Entrepreneurs in Emerging Economies: Lessons on Segmentation and Care Needs from the 2019-2021 Pandemic
- Wendy Teleki, Head of the We-Fi Secretariat
- Tanima Ahmed, Economist with the World Bank Group's Invest in Childcare Initiative and Gender Group
The webinar was moderated by Aileen Ionescu-Somers, GEM Executive Director.
