Many new businesses pursue sustainable development goals either directly or indirectly. As noted in the GEM 2024/2025 Global Report, in all but two of the 51 participating economies (Morocco and Cyprus), over half of those starting or running new businesses agree that they always consider social and environmental implications when making decisions about the future of their business. In 40 of those economies, over half of early-stage entrepreneurs agree that they prioritise social and environmental sustainability above profits or growth.
In high- and middle-income economies, women entrepreneurs are more likely than men to report sustainability strategies and actions, and more likely to prioritise sustainability over profits or growth. Access the report.
