The Role of Corporate Entrepreneurship in the Current Global Economic Turmoil: Workshop July 19th, 2012 San Sebastian, Spain An increasing number of scholars claims that entrepreneurial initiatives within established organizations (i.e., corporate entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship) spur economic growth. In recent years, the world economic crisis has destroyed a vast number of companies and millions of jobs. Business enterprises, governments, and public institutions around the globe have been forced to undertake major restructuring and transformation efforts. In this context, the subject of corporate entrepreneurship, as a mechanism to innovate and to create new firms, has gained increasing attention among scholars, business practitioners and policy makers. Little is known about the intrapreneurial activity across different regions, and on the determinants/performance/impact of corporate entrepreneurship within this turbulent environment. We encourage papers which look into issues such as the opportunity to explore and exploit mechanisms of intrapreneurial initiatives; the implementation and performance of intrapreneurial strategies; the financing and corporate governance of spin-off, joint ventures, etc. Our purpose is to launch a special issue on Corporate Entrepreneurship with a selection of papers participating in the workshop. Hornsby, Jack Vanier Distinguished Chair of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Professor of Management Kansas State University Deadlines • Abstract submission: Abstracts will be accepted (no more than 500 words) until March 16nd. They should be e-mailed to Iñaki Peña, ipena@orkestra.deusto.es and/or Maribel Guerrero maribel.guerrero@orkestra.deusto.es. A decision will be made by March 31st and the authors of the selected papers will be invited to submit a full-paper. • Paper submission: The full-paper submission will close on June 30th. Manuscripts should not exceed 7,000 words (20 pages). • Workshop: The workshop will take place in San Sebastian (Spain) on July 19th.
